This social enterprise, following the footsteps of the oneROOF Lunchbox program, offers youth who are interested in artistic/graphic design, to utilize and honour their gifts. It is natural to be expressive, therefore, we encourage their creativity on saleable merchandise. Through our Street Designs program, we are able to offer a fantastic array of merchandise. Our products are designed and manufactured by oneROOF youth. The youth involved in this social enterprise program are employed by oneROOF, during which time, they gain valuable skills and receive various certifications to assist youth in obtaining future employment.
The experience gained by participating in a social enterprise program is important as youth contemplate their future and their potential careers. While being employed at oneROOF, our social enterprise youth participate in weekly workshops, which increases their knowledge and ability to make beneficial decisions at their job and in daily life. With transferrable employment skills, oneROOF youth have the opportunity to feel more prepared to enter into the outside work force. Youth who once felt un-employable, or under-employed, now have an opportunity to use their skills for equitable employment in the field of graphic design, printing, advertising, promotion, sales, retail, and customer service.
Street Designs products can be purchased from our website, or by contacting us via phone: 519-742-2788.
This excellent and challenging program is designed to teach transferable business, marketing, and design skills that will build self-esteem and heighten the participating youths’ prospects for future employment.
Youth not only design, manufacture, and market products, but also complete custom contracts. The work environment is fast-paced and challenging, but with full support from their peers and advisers, youth will be encouraged to make healthy lifestyle changes. All this is possible by giving youth an opportunity to do what they already love to do, express themselves.
oneROOF Street Designs is capable of printing on a variety of products including t-shirts and bags. T-Shirt products have been popular for sports teams, for school events, and they can also be utilized for local events, or as a “thank you” to your volunteers. Street Designs also provides book binding and button making, and soon silk screening will be available.
Thanks to the generosity of the Libro Financial Group, The Co-operators Foundation, The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation, Ontario Trillium Foundation, and United Way of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area, we were able to obtain equipment of the highest quality, and to realize our social enterprise goals. The equipment purchased to date, allows us to create color-saturated products with exceptionally high resolution. Our goal is to produce designs that are truly eye-catching and youth-driven.
