Paramedic Program

Conestoga College | Connect Life & Learning

The Conestoga College Paramedic Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to practice emergency pre-hospital medical/trauma care and to function as an integral member of the health-care team in assisting victims of injury or illness. Graduates of the program will have demonstrated the ability to safely and competently care for individuals of all ages, in emergency and non-emergency situations and to administer emergency treatment and care measures.

The program provides a rich learning environment that utilizes classroom education, immersive simulation, various interprofessional exercises, and clinical exposure to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and critical thinking for proficiency within the critical care and community care environments. Clinical work-integrated learning (WIL) at a hospital and various field sites, including oneROOF Youth Services. Through comprehensive orientations across all our departments and opportunities to shadow dedicated staff in NSH, DTS, and PAR, students develop a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by vulnerable populations.

What is NSH?

Next Steps Housing is a Supportive Housing building, run by oneROOF Youth Services. Based on the Housing First for Youth (HF4Y) model, this youth-specific living and learning environment strives to guide its residents into their own self-determination.

What is DTS?

Day Time Services (DTS) is responsible for essential services and daily programming including meals, showers, lockers, food hampers, distribution of essential supplies, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: We have recently moved to appointment-based day and evening services.

Those looking to utilize our day and evening services (previously drop-in based) not residing in shelter will need to find alternative spaces within the community to be during the day.  Anyone within our age mandate seeking basic needs (showers, food, etc.) will be seen by appointment. Those wishing to meet with caseworkers, housing workers, or other staff for specific needs/concerns are also welcome by appointment.

What is PAR?

Providing A Roof (PAR) is an eighteen bed co-ed emergency shelter program for youths aged 16-25 years. Beds are assigned as available on a first-come, first-served basis. All youth residing at PAR are assigned a primary worker who assists them in set short/long term goals and in transitioning out of the shelter by securing appropriate housing. The youth may remain at PAR as long as their individual circumstance dictates.

Together, we are shaping the next generation of paramedics to deliver compassionate, informed, and holistic care in their future roles.

Thank you Conestoga College!
