National Youth Week is a time dedicated to the encouragement and celebration of young people.
oneROOF Youth Services’ Youth Week is focused on supporting youth experiencing homelessness in Waterloo Region. This year’s celebrations include education, awareness, fundraising and social events. Explore this page to learn more.

Join us in person Saturday, May 6th, 2023 for a small business market, showcasing 30+ local entrepreneurs, small business owners, and independent artists.
Our neighbours at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church have generously donated their space for our first in-person vendor fair. After the success of our four previous Virtual Vendor Fairs, we are excited to join forces with local businesses once again.

MURAL REVEAL

CAMPUS MURAL UNVEILING
Saturday, May 6th, 2023 | The Quad (35 Sheldon Ave N, Kitchener)
The Quad is getting an update this Youth Week! A mural reflecting the work of oneROOF Youth Services and the lives of the youth we serve will be unveiled Saturday, May 6th, 2023.
The Quad is oneROOF Youth Services’ four building property, made up of our main service facility, shelter and thrift store building, office headquarters, and supportive housing building.
Paul McDonald, director and founder of The Firm Murals, will be on-site this Youth Week, beautifying The Quad with the addition of a 22 foot mural. Our goal is that this art piece provoke thought and subvert stigma, showcasing the uniqueness and potential of today’s youth. This project is supported by the Mary Bales Fund, held at Waterloo Region Community Foundation.

ALL WEEK LONG | The Quad (35 Sheldon Ave N, Kitchener, ON N2H 3M1)
All week long, the youth we serve can choose to participate in specialty programming, in celebration of Youth Week.
Regular programming will still be available via our LifeLine (Drop-in/Essential Services) department. This additional programming is meant to provide further opportunities for youth to connect with each other, as well as with their community. These events are private; for youth currently accessing oneROOF Youth Services only.

McDonald’s Meal Monday: Special Meal Day!
A mid-day, youth social with everyone’s favourite guilty pleasure meal, McDonalds.
Message Monday: Youth Voices
We believe in #BreakingTheSilence by offering the youth we serve an opportunity to share their story. In an online segment we call Youth Voices, our young people are given the chance to anonymously share their journeys, struggles, and success stories. On the Thursday of Youth Week, a writing station will be made available for youth to once again put forth their #YouthVoices submissions.
Movie Monday: Outdoor Movie Night
We host a Movie Night for youth every Monday, but this time we’re taking things to the big screen! Youth can join us outdoors on The Quad for a special movie night projected under the stars. Movie TBD.

A mid-day, youth social with all the fixings, thanks to our in-house chef and youth volunteers.

A creative and colourful day of fun! All supplies provided. Weather permitting.

Walk Wednesday: Neighbourhood Clean Up
Youth and staff are taking to the streets to tidy our neighbourhood! On Wednesday, we will be coming together to collect garbage in the blocks surrounding our campus.
